Preparing for a DJing Gig? Great Tips to Help You

Disk jockeying is fun, but it can also be stressful depending on the type of event and crowd you are dealing with. Since DJs are charged with the role of setting the mood during an event, sometimes it can be quite a task balancing what to play and what not to, especially when requests are coming in thick and fast.

To ensure you retain your title as the favourite person at the event, here are great tips to help you show off your skills for a good cause.

Be Armed With a Playlist and a Plan B

You might have put together the best playlist, but the people it was intended for might reject or not feel it. Always read your guests’ mood and if it isn’t working, activate your plan B as soon as you can. It is impossible to predict what kind of music every guest will like especially when dealing with a large number of people. Don’t beat up yourself so much, go with the flow as long as everyone remains entertained and happy.

Don’t Allow Party-Poopers to Ruin Your Show

Whether you like it or not, there will always be one or two people who will not like your music. Always remember that you can’t make everybody happy; if the rest of the crowd is dancing and happy, let the few characters who don’t like you be. It is very easy to lose your cool when confronted by such people, don’t let it dampen your mood, ignore them and keep the music going.

It is Never That Serious

Ensuring professionalism throughout the gig is recommended, but it won’t hurt if you dropped one crazy beat that will either take your guests down the memory lane and set them ablaze for a few seconds. Such moments remain memorable for long, make them as beautiful as possible. Pick a perfect timing and drop the song when they least expect it.
